Black Men Vote PAC Proudly Endorses Ras Baraka for New Jersey Governor
A Bold Leader for a New Era: Trusted by the Streets and the Suites, Real Impact in the Statehouse
Washington, DC— Today, Black Men Vote PAC announced its official endorsement of Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka for New Jersey Governor. This landmark endorsement affirms Baraka as the clear choice for voters who believe in bold, accountable, and unapologetically community-centered leadership.
“This endorsement from Black Men Vote PAC is more than political, it’s deeply personal and reflects the values that our campaign stands for,” said Mayor Ras J. Baraka. “It affirms that our campaign is speaking to the real lives of Black men across New Jersey, men who are both resilient and visionary, both burdened by injustice and builders of a better future.”
The endorsement also signals a shared commitment between Baraka’s campaign and Black Men Vote’s mission to elevate Black men as leaders, voters, and change-makers, not as an afterthought, but as an enduring force for positive transformation in the state and across the country.
“Ras Baraka has always met Black men where we are, whether it's in the boardroom or on the block, in the classroom or on the court,” said Michael Bland, Executive Director of Black Men Vote PAC. “He’s a mayor who governs with vision and conviction and he will do the same as Governor of the Garden State.”
“Mayor Baraka’s leadership reflects the ‘both/and’ experience of Black men,” added Bland. “We must both navigate systems that were never built for us and build new ones rooted in justice, dignity, and collective power. His entire life trajectory is evidence of the fact that when you empower Black men, you lift entire communities. He listens. He leads. And he delivers.”
Mayor Baraka, a lifelong Newarker and nationally recognized champion for justice, education, and economic equity, embodies the values that Black Men Vote PAC fights for: real leadership, real results, and real representation. Mayor Baraka has built a record of transformational progress. He has expanded opportunity and reimagined public safety, invested in youth and stood tall in the face of federal adversity.
This endorsement is part of Black Men Vote PAC’s larger effort to build long-term political power, not just moments of mobilization, but a sustained political movement of Black men grounded in trust, culture, and results.
