Black Men Vote PAC Commends Ras Baraka’s Groundbreaking Campaign

Washington, DC — Black Men Vote PAC issued a statement today following the conclusion of the New Jersey Democratic gubernatorial primary, in which U.S. Rep. Mikie Sherrill secured the nomination.

“Ras Baraka ran a campaign grounded in truth, powered by vision, and anchored in community,” said Michael Bland, Executive Director of Black Men Vote PAC. “His leadership modeled what it means to be trusted by both the streets and the suites and what it means to lead with clarity, courage, and conviction.” 

“Congratulations to Representative Mikie Sherrill on a hard-fought victory,” Bland added. “Black men will be a decisive force in this fall’s general election and we expect to see bold, sustained engagement that reflects our community’s power, priorities, and rightful place at the center of New Jersey’s political future.”

From day one, Baraka’s campaign gave voice to communities too often overlooked and demonstrated that bold, justice-centered leadership resonates far beyond city lines. His record in Newark including investing in youth, reimagining public safety, and pushing policy with purpose galvanized a broad coalition of voters hungry for real change.
